Not Everyone Wants What We Have
Some people don't want technology, medicine, cars, houses, streets, laws, civilization. They just want to live in nature and die surrounded by the ones they love. They simply want to be a human being.
Is that too much to ask? Do we need the ideological shouting match over something so basic? Do we need all the political machinations and obfuscation? Do we have to be so hate filled and twist ourselves into such mental knots over this life? Or could we just be people and talk to each other as people?
Its frustrating to watch such a continuous inability to make progress in conversation. Why don't we give anyone the benefit of the doubt? Not even in the moment when emotions run high, but after, when you can assess things with longform consideration. Why is mainstream conversation so vitriolic? Everyone outside the mainstream has good points, even the extremes have many good ideas hidden in the insanity they are trapped inside.
But the mainstream has nothing. Its nothing but dead hate, the blinders are up full power. Are we doomed to this? Can we do better? Or does humanity deserve to destroy itself? I don't want to be pessimistic. But the solution to our problems is sitting there, just waiting for us. Yet we adamantly refuse to take even the simplest of steps to go towards it.
