Hello Everyone!
I hope the holidays are treating you well. I’ve decided to take the next few weeks off from publishing free content, aka new writing, so I can spend Christmas and New Years with family, and free from any pressure to get writing out on a deadline.
I have quite a few other concerns drawing on my time, or which I expect to disrupt my writing in the near future. A friend is staying in my office on the fold out bed, I have a couple ongoing family considerations I will be traveling for in the next few months along with some volunteering with a project I may be dropping 80hr weeks on in the coming year. I want to get ahead and have a series of backup articles I can publish if I’m on the back foot for a week, without disrupting my overall queue of articles.
I have a few articles in the works and nearly complete, and several more in the planning, outlining and preparation stage. I want to take some time, now that I’ve learned a bit of consistency over the past two months, to organize and improve my writing process. Improve my writing quality and habits by putting together a writing schedule for each week, reading some of the classic great writers to understand their craft better, and by putting into place good processes to refine my habits and methods for getting words and thoughts onto the page.
This will be a gradual process, to make it work I’ll want to take each piece and segment it into daily habits with strategic goals. Its time to shift gears from the sprint of trying out the idea of writing this substack, into the marathon of turning it into a system of habits and skills that can work long term. Part of that will be accountability and feedback from you, dear reader, as I learn and grow, let me know what you like and what can improve!
I am hugely grateful and excited to have people who believe in me and my writing enough to adopt a paid subscription to my substack, accessing old content I am curating into my archives here from other blogs and places I’ve done writing. Thank you guys so much! I will do my best to keep the content flow going for you! I have articles From The Archives scheduled out till mid January, and will spend some time this week importing from the next source so I can extend the schedule out to my birthday the first week in February, my 30th!
For anyone interested in these other things I’ve written, I have a special, as they say; “introductory offer” of half off, which will be available until the end of December. All of you reading as of this writing are mostly my friends, and certainly I consider all of you friends. This deal is for you! I’m not asking for money because of money. Rather I mean to offer you an opportunity to support this writing project financially, mostly to help me build motivation, and accountability, but also to be a part of directly turning this into a sustainable career. I don’t need the money, and the economy is rather rough right now, but if you want access to everything the door is open for a coffee a month till the end of the year.
Honestly, I’m just so excited for how much you guys believe in me. Having substack deposit in my account is cool and all, but waking up the day after an article publishes to see how many recipients opened the article really warms my heart. So thanks all of you for the support, regardless of its form!
Keep reading and have a Merry Christmas!
